Can I tell you I am just grateful!
1. I have the BEST family! Really....I do!
2. The sacrament! This week I really wanted to prepare for the sacrament and have it be a great experience and as I did and I took the sacrament it was such a sweet experience! I really can feel on Saturday the need for the Sacrament every week! And it ALWAYS renews me! I cannot imagine missing it for one week. I would be a wreck haha....
3. And above all else have charity...because charity never faileth! I am grateful for learning this throughout my mission! It was just solidified through this week. When you have charity you are happier...even when people are not charitable back...at all...haha! Everything goes better when you have charity for at least something and it is something that you can ask for.
4. The opportunity that we have to pray. Sometimes people will be very mad and tell us to pray about certain things that we teach. I always do because if we tell them to pray about the Book of Mormon then of course we can pray about that! But I know that Heavenly Father answers prayers. It is most of the time in VERY quiet ways. That is because he trusts us.
5. Opposition! I am almost happy when I experience oppostion because it can make me stronger and it also helps me come closer to my Heavenly Father.
Okay I will stop....I really could go on forever! I love THIS GOSPEL. It teaches everything you need to know.
This week we were door knocking and something must have been happening that was affecting everyone's mood! They were all very angry. Some of it was quite funny...but others I was just wondering how they could be okay with themselves after the way they just acted! Haha! We got the door slammed so hard once that we could feel it shake through our entire body. But if the gates of Hell shall come upon us know this that it will be for our good! :)
So this week other than that was very good! People are just on fire here! Every lesson we went to the investigator was just soo excited to learn and was reading and progressing! It was very good!
This week we have two baptisms one of Makenzie and she is ten and soo very sweet and one of Scott! He is the funniest guy I have ever met! So great! I love them both so much and I am so excited for them to take this step in their lives! :)
We are also teaching Brother Mclean! His wife is a member and he drinks a lot and has had a rough life but he is hands down the sweetest guy I have ever met! You wouldn't think that when you meet him but he seriously is so great! He is very into revelations and is wonderful but loves to argue that Thomas S Monson is not a prophet but I all the sudden gave him what we as missionaries call a "wild promise" I promised him that if we would go one day with out drinking, read a few talks by Thomas S. Monson and then go somewhere alone and pray and ask God if he is a prophet that he would get his answer. It was a cool experience and I know that he will get his answer. He agreed to do it and so this week we will hear back! Oh Thomas S. Monson is a prophet! :)
We are also teaching Robin and Ralphie they are soo great! They came to church yesterday and they are just doing so awesome! Robing said they are praying every day as a family and reading together! :)
It is always so great to see someone progressing! Youc an just tell it in their eyes whether or not that are doing it! Everything goes better when you do what Heavenly Father tells you! I always use this analogy when talking about obedience...I ask them what kind of rules their parents gave them and then I ask them why and they always say because they love me. I tell that my parents would always want me to be home by midnight and it is not because they hate me and want to watch suffer it is because they want to keep me safe and because they love me! Heavenly Father is the exact same way! He doesn't want us to drink because he know it isn't safe! He wants us to come to church and take the sacrament because he knows without it we would be sad! Obedience to God's commandments is freedom! I know that with all my heart! :) I love this church sooo so much! I am soo grateful for my savior Jesus Christ and for the opportunity that I have to be a part of his restored gospel! How great that is! :)
Much Michigan Love,
Sister Oswald
