So
Monday Sister Brems was getting on the transfer and two sisters were
supposed to stay with me that night but they realized that they weren't
coming until tomorrow so as everyone got onto the van to go I suddenly
realized that I was standing there....alone....and as a
missionary...that is SCARY! So the assistants look at each other and
then look in the back of the van and realize...they have ONE spot left!
FOR ME!! haha! So I got to go up to Mt. Pleasant and back! As we were
driving into Mt. Pleasant I wanted to cry! It was such a beautiful
sight! I LOVE Mt. Pleasant and didn't realize just how much I missed it
until we got into town! I really love Mt. Pleasant....like really...
So
we picked up Sister Christiansen and Sister Nuttall and drove back and
had dinner! Can I tell you HOW MUCH I LOVE THEM....like a lot...they
went home on Wedneday....so crazy! I miss them already! :( But Sister
Christiansen stayed with me that night and well...it was the greatest! I
love her so much!
Then the next
day....Tuesday, I dropped off Sister Christiansen and picked up Sister
Rogers, Chatman, Whipple, and Jones! They all stayed with me and we
worked campus! I felt like I was directing an army! "Alright! You go
talk to people this way, you go this way, and We will go this way!" Haha
but what a party it was! You get five sisters in one tiny
apartment....I will let you finish the rest! haha!
THENNNN Sister Rogers and I stayed at the mission home Wednesday
and went and picked up the new missionaries! Oh how great it is! I
seriously love it! We got to do some training and watch MEET THE MORMONS
with them!! It was so fun! Then that night we took them out on campus
to do some finding with them! Which was also so fun! :) then we woke up Thursday
and did a bit more training and also helped Sister Jacobsen with some
things and then we went over to the church to meet the trainers and
match them up! Then we had Lunch and went back to our own areas!
Now we go to Friday!
We are finally back to normal missionary work and had a little while to
go finding because one of our appointments cancelled so we went all
around campus to find the elect! :) Then we get this voice mail from
Sister Jacobsen telling us that we should call her back as soon as
possible and there are going to be some changes! Sister Rogers and I
just looked at each other like "uhhh oh no" So we figure out that one of
the Lansing sisters was going home and that Sister Hyde is now staying
with us! So after we got off the phone we went and got ice cream and
then headed back to the apartment to pick Sister Hyde up! So now we are
working two areas...which is crazy! So Saturday we did A LOT of weekly planning for both areas and how we were going to make this work! So it all worked out!
Sunday
was a bit crazy....we had MSU ward council then MSU church then we had
Lansing ward council then MSU correlation and then Lansing church! It
was kind of fun....I will admit! Haha BUT CRAZY! The bishop is the
sweetest little old man and during Lansing correlation the bishop was
talking about family history and he said "I can work ancestry.com
like nobody's business!" It was seriously the greatest thing! We were
trying not to bust up laughing in the middle of ward council.
Lansing
ward was the best thing I have ever experienced! It was the primary
program....I cried and laughed and cried! It was the best!!! Exactly
what I needed Seriously an experience that I will never forget! There
was one little boy that looked and acted just like Mitchel and I may or
may not have teared up a bit...I miss him....and the MSU church was
AMAZING! I received so much revelation and the spirit was soo strong! I
cannot even describe! Everything I needed to hear at that moment! Then
after we got out of Lansing ward council I went to say goodbye to
Valerie and I walk into the relief society room and they had the font
opened and Valerie just standing there looking at it! I asked her how
she felt about it and she was so excited and just beaming! She said that
as she was looking at the font she just was so excited and ready to
start her new life :) I loved it! I wanted to cry right there and then!
She knows this is right but she just wants to wait until her family is
on board with it! Which is a great idea! But we taught her about temples
and family history this week and she said that when she went home this
weekend that all she and her family did was family history! How amazing!
And her mom said to her "aren't the Mormons like really big into family
history?" So exciting!
We also taught Kyle!
and he is great as ever! He is teaching me chinese! So expect some
Chinese speaking skills when I get home ;) He is just so genuine and
sincerely wants to know if God is there!
We
also taught a family (wow it has been a while since I have said
that....perks of being in a family and student ward) Deip and Dinh with
their little baby Thomas! :) They are from Vietnam and seriously so
sweet and amazing! They learned how to sing twinkle twinkle little star!
and they sang it for us and Thomas! and then we sang it for Thomas
before we left and they LOVED it! I cannot describe how cute they are!
We asked Deip (the husband) how it was having a baby, learning a
language, and going to school to be a mechanical engineer and he just
said "I have never had any of these thing before. This is not a bad
thing. I am living the dream!" I learned so much from him! He didn't
have the best things but he was living the dream and so thankful for
everything! My goal this week is to just enjoy life...every second of
it! Isn't life just so amazing! Every moment is something so grand!! We
as people are made up of every action, thought, word, and what we see.
We can choose to make those all negative, progress down a negative path,
and in turn make ourselves completely made up of negative things! Or we
can do the opposite and turn ourselves into something incredibly
positive! It is like water and vinegar, would you rather have a glass
full of water or vinegar? a mix of both? I know I would rather a plain
glass of water. Each moment we decided what we are going to add to our
glass. Water or vinegar? That probably makes no sense...but for me I
realized that life is meant to live in the present! Focus on the options
you have now! Make the best of what you have now and in the end you
will notice you created something wonderful! You are your biggest
creation! Now I am going to use this cheesy Jr. High quote "life is not
about finding yourself but it is about creating yourself" That is a true
statement with a much deeper meaning. Every experience you have creates
you into something different! I think I will choose to make myself out
of positive things! My rant is done....sorry...
Much Michigan Love,
Sister Oswald
P.s.
We have a blue truck that we get to drive around...I will get a picture
today! Only the assistants and the zone leaders have trucks...we are
pretty special! (other than the fact that we only got a truck while the
Lansing sisters car was in the shop and we get rid of it today)
