Okay this week......so great!!! Every one here is from the
church of which I call the LARGE AND SPACIOUS BUILDING! But really, have
you ever heard of mega churches? Because I hadn't until I came to Kalamazoo (which I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said "yes,
there really is a Kalamazoo" hahaha... my heck people here are so funny! :) But it is called the Family Valley Church and it is this HUGE STADIUM
CHURCH! what the heck right? yep. And we drive past it on the way to our
church and guess what? Someone told us it has a bank and a starbucks in
it...churches these days man....but really, it is huge.
I truly love the
ward members and investigators so much!! They are my rock right now! This week I have really been praying because I felt like we were doing
all this work and not finding success or no one appreciated it,
so I really wanted to see the fruits of our labors....so right after I
prayed and fasted for that on Sunday, Amy called us and just broke down
and told us how much she appreciated what we did and she knew it wasn't
easy but she was so grateful for us and what we do for her!! And told us
we were pretty much the greatest people she has ever met! :) Then we
went to Sharlottes...my heck I love her so much I can hardly contain
it....and she just broke down and talked about how much she loved us and
was so grateful that god chose her for us to find and then bore her
testimony to us and said she knew this was all true! :) I was so
happy...TRUE MISSIONARY JOY RIGHT THERE. But really....it was so great... I
was crying, she was crying, Sister Frei was crying...so Spirit filled! She
wanted to push her baptismal date back a bit because church has been
cancelled so much because of the weather so maybe not this Saturday but
next! :) And then we were talking about families and I showed her a
picture of ya'll and she started crying and said "Oh my goodness! Ya'll
are so gorgeous!!! Is that your dad??" and I said yes and then she was
like "GOOD JOB DAD!" hahahaha I laughed for an hour...she was soooo pumped
about our family...really though...and Shar came to church yesterday
and toward the end she was like, "Sister Oswald this is wonderful...I love
this...I love this soo much!" She was pumped and so excited! :) And Diamond and Kennedy, her daughters, oh my heck her daughters! I LOVE THEM
SO MUCH! I want them to come home with me...I don't know what I would do
without them in my life! I got up to bear my testimony in church and Diamond whispers "go sista oswaldddd!" :)hahah I love her.....so
much....
Then we have been teaching this....couple...they are living an
"alternate lifestyle" ahem** gay...but holy hannah, boy do I love them
both!!! One of them is a member but hasn't been for 15 years but he is
from GOOD OLE IDAHO! really! haha and his mom is very active! We walked in and they were like we made snacks!! :) and
they had cookies and brownies! It is so sad though because he has a testimony! I cant just tell...my missionary senses tell me that....ha but
he is so stuck with this and I know once the significant other gets out of the way, he
will come back to church! He knows it is true... so I am plotting ways to
get the other out of the picture...as much as I sure do love him... salvation is
on the line!!!
I have learned ALOT!! I love this area so much! I dont know what I would do it I got transferred from this area, it is such a great area! I LOVE the ward members! I love missionary work...it is really the best thing that has happened in my life...really! I love telling people that this church is the same exact one that Christ set up when he was on the earth! And I know that to be true! I am so happy that I can be here to influence others and be apart of their lives! this work can be the most devastating sad horrible and most rewarding happy joyful best work there is...don't know how to describe it! it really is great! love ya'll you are all in my prayers and I just love you and miss you SO MUCH! LOTS OF LOVE FROM THE MICHIGANDERS COMIN YOUR WAY!
Sister Oswald
