Hello Family!
This week was crazy! We had to get up at 2:30 and get ready to leave and then a long day of flights! I felt like a pro becuase I knew where to go! I really like flying so it was fun! I will be honest, I was a little homesick after calling you guys, but once I got on the plane and everything it was okay! I fell asleep on the plane and then woke up and looked out the window and thought...what the heck? What ocean are we flying over?? but it turns out it was just a HUGGEEE lake hahah so not a big deal...Then we got to Lansing and President and Sister Hess were there and can I just say, I love them SO MUCH! They are really wonderful! The PA's were there too and I thought about when Dad told me about him being a PA and how he loved seeing the new missionaries! Anyways, I got tons of compliments on my SO CUTE luggage! It was really nice to have it stick out though!
Oh, and when we got to the Salt Lake Airport I was dying because I was so nervous it would be over weight and I was praying so hard for it to make wieght (probably how Casey feels during wrestling season hahaha) but then it turned out to be 49 pounds... 1 pound underweight and so I was very thankful for that tender mercy! Then when we were calling and my calling card ended and I was almost in tears and praying to be able to get a hold of you and not sure how I was going to get a hold of you again and just pretty much having a panick attack and then some random guy walked passed by and just stops and says are you a sister missionary and I was like yeah and then he was like well do you want to borrow my phone to call home? I almost hugged him but it is against the rules! haha! Heavenly Father really does listen to prayers!
Flying over Michigan there are SO MANY trees... like forests and forests and if you dont have a million trees in your yard it is abnormal hahaha! and no mountains...at all! We were talking to some members and they were talking about skiing and we were like where the heck do you skii??? haha
But anyways we got to the mission home and oh my, it is adorable! The prettiest house ever! But that is how all the houses are here just old and rustic but so pretty and they are painted so many pretty vintagey colors! I love all of the houses here! The picture of the yellow pretty bedroom is the bedroom Sister Carter and I stayed in the first night at the mission home! That night we had orientation and I was literally falling asleep! Sister Carter and I were like pinching oursleves staying awake! They gave us the Michigan state rock and it is so cool. If you rub it ALOT it gets this really cool pattern in it! I want to try and find some for everyone at home because I am sure Grandma Oswald would JUST LOVE that so very much! Then we met our trainers the next day. Mine is really nice!  I love her and we get along... just not like sister carter and I! Sister Carter and I were crying when we said goodbye because we just loved each other so much! Hopefully we will get to be companions again! And we get to see each other on Chirstmas...but I dont want to think about Christmas :( That will be a hard day! Thanksgiving will be okay, we are going to a members house for dinner and she is really nice so I am excited. I think it will be hard! But oh well! I am going to try my hardest to find ALL the positves of the holidays!
The first night I was in Kalamazoo (which is so fun to say KALAMAZOOOOO) we went and taught  and I did not say one word...nothing...okay, well I did bear my testimony to him... but that is it! I think Sister Frei hated me after that haha! They were getting so deep into the doctrine so I just shutup and listened. I think I learned more than anyone! But then the next day we taught a father and son.  And the father committed to be baptized ahhhhh!!! He is so excited to be baptized but he also hasnt come to church yet because he is always sick, but he promised to come this week even if he is in a wheel chair so I am very pumped!!
Then my favorite, last night we were going to visit everyone and there is one couple we could never get in touch! But I all the sudden felt the need to go visit them and I told Sister Frei. We figured they wouldn't be home, but decided to try...so we went over there and the husband was home and the wife was sick. So we just talked to the husband and his daughter. We taught about the resoration and he loved it and really opened up and told us his whole life story and said I know that I need to join this church because everytime you guys come over you teach exactly what I need to hear! Then he commited to be baptized but said he didnt know when he worked next so next Sunday we are going to set up a time and hopefully get him to church!
Then there is a woman whois a recent convert. She said she really didnt want to be a mormon anymore because everyone is rude and her visting teachers never visited her and she just didnt feel loved! (so make sure you visiting teaching is getting done! haha) We were trying to make sure she felt the Spirit during the lesson but with her kids yelling and screaming it was next to impossible! Right as I was reciting the first vision the kids kinda calmed down and the Spirit was sooooo strong!!!! She said it was what she needed! She is so wonderful! But the whole rest of the lesson I was like trying to entertain the kids and  they were trying to take all the sticker markers off and put them in different places and oh my heck it was just crazy! And they wouldnt listen!
Then we were visiting someone and they didnt want to visit so we were heading back to the car and Sister Frei was like lets go next door real fast and so we did and then man that lived there  told us his whole life story and how he was looking for religion and here we were! Crazy mircales everywhere I love it!
Love, Sister Oswald
